Monarda didyma
Bee balm has fragrant leaves and shaggy, tubular flowers in red, pink or purple in summer. It draws hummingbirds, bees and butterflies and fits well in cottage and pollinator gardens.

Care: Keep soil evenly moist and give afternoon shade in DFW heat. Good airflow helps prevent powdery mildew; spreads by roots and is hardy here.
