Rubus cultivars (thornless)
These thornless blackberries were bred for Southern gardens and produce sweet, large berries for fresh eating and jam. Prime-Ark types also fruit on new canes in late summer and fall.
- Full sun
- Thornless canes, heavy crops
- Grows about 4–6 ft tall; best on a trellis
- Varieties: Prime-Ark Traveler, Ouachita, Prime-Ark Freedom, Arapaho, Brazos
Care: Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly while fruiting. Hardy in North Texas; remove canes that have finished fruiting after harvest.
