Equisetum hyemale
Horsetail reed grows straight, jointed green stems with no leaves, giving a modern, architectural look. It is used in containers, water gardens and contemporary landscapes.

- Grows in moist soil or shallow water
- Grows about 3–4 ft tall
Care: Keep moist. It spreads aggressively by underground stems, so grow it in containers or contained beds. Evergreen and hardy in DFW.
