Vitis rotundifolia cultivars
Muscadines are the native grapes of the South, with thick-skinned, very sweet fruit in late summer. They resist the diseases that trouble bunch grapes in Texas. Carlos bears bronze fruit; Southland bears large dark purple fruit; both are self-fertile.
- Full sun
- Disease resistant, heat tolerant
- Vine spreads 15–20 ft on a trellis
- Varieties: Carlos, Southland
Care: Water deeply while fruit develops and prune back to short spurs each winter. Cold hardy in North Texas.
