Pittosporum is an evergreen that grows as a shrub or small tree, with thick, leathery leaves that may be deep green, silvery-gray or edged in cream depending on the type. Many kinds bear clusters of small, sweet-smelling white or purplish flowers in spring. Its full, dense growth makes it a favorite for hedges, privacy screens and foundation beds.
