Phormium Tenax Purpureum
Purple New Zealand Flax forms a bold clump of upright, blade-shaped leaves in rich burgundy to deep purple. It adds strong texture and contrast to modern beds and containers, and looks best paired with softer, low plants. In summer it may send up tall stalks with reddish tubular flowers that hummingbirds visit.
- Does well in full sun to part shade
- Tough, low-care and adaptable to many soils
- Evergreen foliage color in mild winters
