Allium schoenoprasum
A clumping perennial herb with slender, mild onion-flavored leaves and round lavender-pink flowers in spring. Chives are handy to snip for the kitchen and make a tidy edging plant for herb gardens, vegetable beds and borders.

- Grows about 10–18 in tall and wide
Care: Plant in well-drained soil and water when the top inch dries out. Cut leaves often to keep fresh growth coming; it is cold hardy and returns each spring in North Texas.
