Elaeagnus pungens
A fast-growing evergreen shrub with olive-green leaves backed in silver and dotted with tiny brown scales. Small fragrant flowers open in fall, and it is often used for quick screens and hedges.
- Full sun to part shade
- Fast-growing and heat tolerant
- Grows about 10–15 ft tall and wide; can be kept smaller
Care: Very drought tolerant once established. Prune regularly to control long shoots and keep a hedge shape. Cold hardy in North Texas.
