Cylindropuntia bigelovii
Teddy bear cholla is a desert cactus covered in dense, silvery-gold spines that glow in the sun. It makes a dramatic accent in xeriscapes and rock gardens, away from paths.
- Full sun
- Glowing silvery spines; extremely drought tolerant
- Grows about 3–5 ft tall
Care: Needs fast-draining, gravelly soil and very little water. It is marginal in North Texas cold, so plant in a dry, sheltered spot or container and protect in hard freezes.
